Who receives messages
Recipients are patients whose surgical facility has scheduled them for an upcoming procedure and enrolled them in PreOpClear after obtaining consent. Messages are sent only in connection with that scheduled procedure.
Call to Action and opt-in workflow
PreOpClear does not use a public web form, mobile app form, QR code, or text keyword to enroll patients. The only opt-in path is an in-person scheduling workflow at the patient's surgical facility:
- The patient schedules a surgical procedure with a contracted surgical facility.
- Facility staff tell the patient that the facility uses PreOpClear, operated by Perioperative Solutions LLC, to send pre-operative screening text messages.
- Facility staff read the consent script below and provide the patient with the written SMS consent disclosure.
- The patient agrees and signs the written consent form before any text message is sent.
- Only after consent is complete, facility staff enter the patient's phone number into PreOpClear.
- PreOpClear sends SMS only when the procedure is within the configured pre-operative message window.
Consent script read to patients
Your surgery at [facility name] is scheduled for [procedure date]. To prepare you for surgery, we use a text-message pre-operative screening service called PreOpClear, which is operated by Perioperative Solutions LLC. If you agree, PreOpClear will send text messages to the phone number you provide today. You will receive approximately 3 to 8 text messages over the 10 days leading up to your procedure. The messages will include identity verification, health intake questions about your medications and medical conditions, medication hold instructions for surgery day, and fasting and arrival reminders. Message and data rates may apply from your wireless carrier. You can stop the messages at any time by replying STOP, and you can reply HELP for help. No promotional or marketing messages will ever be sent, and your phone number will not be shared with anyone other than the service providers required to deliver the messages.
